First Concept Art

Rough concept, with colour variations for different atmospheres.

A concept for a creature that nobody wants to sit next to. (Didn't mean to do such a cartoony sketch but my realist painting skills are on holiday.)

  1. Lovin' it! Especially the colours, and the camera angle of the first one. Would a sercurity camera see the second one from that angle?

Are we going to stick to night time shots? I think that might work best. But if we have some day time sort of shots, like on the bus, would that make it seem more like normality?

  2. Yeah, i think the night time shots would probably work best but like Siobhan said if we want to portray the monsters and people living in harmony then would only night shots make it seem like a nightmarish scene rather than it being normal life?

  3. Yeah the second one isn't a camera previs, just a creature concept. That I accidentally made a background for.

I think night time would be best exactly for the reason that it would -seem- nightmarish, but would turn out not to be. If the audience expects for it to be scary it would be a twist that it isn't. And night is more mysterious - it allows for this "what if this is what really happens at night, I've just never been around to see it" thing.
Also, well, a limited time span of just one night with that one very underlined atmosphere would work towards the minimalist feel that would fit this project.

The nightmarish quality is a valid point, though, and we ought to keep in a scene where the harmonious relationship is made clear. The antler-guy (or anyone with a difficult shape) getting stuck and getting help from a human would be sweet.

    1. I definitely like the idea of a human helping out one of the creatures if they get stuck or something! We'll just need to make sure we plan it properly, since the humans are going to be live action.
